Onboarding for a new revenue stream
In collaboration with Vanhack, I redesigned employer onboarding to reach the aha moment fast, showing candidates who fit your role before signup, with every step to set up the account live and interactive.
VanHack had always acquired customers through sales, but we were testing whether the product itself could create enough value upfront to support a self-serve subscription model.
The existing onboarding asked first-time employers to complete a 7-step, 11-question job-posting form before seeing useful candidate matches, so many users entered fake data just to access the product.
I redesigned the flow around speed to value and progressive commitment: employers could start exploring candidates immediately, build a role through their search behavior, and sign up only when they had something worth saving.
The outcome was an end-to-end clickable prototype and design-system handoff to help the team validate whether product-led onboarding could become a new revenue stream without hurting the existing sales motion.
